Key Outcomes from State Grid's 2026 Work Conference: The First Session of the Fifth Workers' Congress and the 2026 Work Conference of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) were held in Beijing from January 15 to 16, 2026. The conference outlined key corporate objectives, emphasizing the advancement of a new-type power system. It also underscored the commitment to achieve, within the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the established goals of building a world-leading energy internet enterprise with Chinese characteristics.
The meeting identified eight key areas of focus for 2026:
First, prioritize strategic planning by formulating the high-quality 15th Five-Year Plan for development.
Second, consolidate foundations to ensure and enhance intrinsic safety.
Third, enhance integrated grid governance and ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply.
Fourth, under the guidance of the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, accelerate the building of a new-type power system.
Fifth, adhere to the principle of achieving greater self-reliance and strength, and accelerate the development of new quality productive forces.
Sixth, deepen reforms and tackle difficult challenges to boost corporate dynamism and vitality.
Seventh, improve quality and efficiency, and enhance overall operational management.
Eighth, by consolidating the Party's organizational foundation and strengthening its ideological commitment, we will ensure that high-quality Party building leads high-quality development.
